Barcombe Nurseries

In 1997, Adrian Halstead, always a keen allotment gardener, took a leap of faith and bought the nursery in rural Barcombe, four miles west of Lewes and twelve miles north of Brighton. He began the conversion to organic status under the auspices of the Soil Association with the idea of starting a local vegetable box scheme.

The emphasis is always on own, local and seasonal first but in order to provide a wider choice we buy produce from other local farms and food producers and everything else from further afield comes from our wholesaler in Cornwall.

We buy a weekly selection of fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit from small organic farms located as close to London as possible. All bags are packed on Wednesday mornings and then delivered to our community collection points for you to pick up.

Seldom Seen Farm

Living in the glorious Leicestershire countryside, Robert and Claire Symington have been farming here for over 40 years. We produce free-range geese, bronze turkeys and our celebrated three-bird-roast. During the summer pick-your-own season we sell a range of soft fruit with our strawberries all grown on table tops, so no bending. During December our farm shop is open for a wide range of festive fare and home baking.
